Meet Tracy Lee, Psy.D.

Helping you uncover your child’s potential.

I believe every child has unique gifts and talents.

I use psychological testing to uncover those gifts and talents.

You’re in the right place.

I have always been drawn to kids with special needs. Starting as an elementary school teacher, I loved the classroom but wanted to get to know kids better on an individual level. I became a reading specialist. Watching many kids struggle to read, developing anxiety and depression, I wanted to figure out a better way to intervene. I chose graduate school in clinical psychology and focused my training on assessing and intervening with kids who had behavioral difficulties and emotional issues. Upon earning my doctorate, I wanted to take a closer look at learning disabilities and neurological issues that impact behavior. An additional year in neuropsychological assessment allowed me to deepen my understanding of the brain.

After becoming a licensed clinical psychologist, I went into private practice. On the side, I taught the Child Development and Treatment class at my alma mater and was also asked to be the Director of Clinical Training. I have supervised graduate students in psychological testing as well as taught it at the graduate level. Although I enjoy working as a psychotherapist, professor, and supervisor, I have been told many times that I am uniquely gifted in psychological testing and assessment.

Why do I love psychological testing and assessment?

For over 20 years, I have worked in private practice as a therapist. As an experienced clinician, I frequently receive referrals from clients who have had several different therapists or tried multiple medications to no avail.

With psychological testing and assessment, I am able to see the client with a magnifying glass. Whether it is intellectual assessment, executive functioning, or underlying personality dynamics, psychological assessment allows me to see both wide and deep into a person’s character and abilities. This in-depth look allows me to see the main source of misery for the person as well as the underlying layers that inhibit growth and well-being.

Clients often come to me in crisis. This intense state of distress provides an openness to trying new things and really getting at the root of a problem. Psychological testing allows me to efficiently lay out the problem, providing a sense of clarity as well as specific steps for relief and growth.

I have found these moments the most life-changing: where one can see the layers of misery as well as clear light out of the darkness. It is beautiful and life-changing.

My guiding principles

Competency based

Although testing often focuses on weeknesses or deficits, I believe every child has unique strengths which can be identified through psychological testing.

Respect and kindness

I will treat you and your child with respect and kindness. If they have anxiety or unique needs I will take them seriously to help them be comfortable and enjoy the process.

Speedy results

Most psychological assessments can be completed within 10-15 hours, including my time in scoring, interpreting, and writing a report. I make sure that I can get this all done within a week of completing the testing process.

Collaboration

After the testing process, I am happy to collaborate with the child’s psychiatrist, pediatrician, or other professionals to coordinate care. School consultation is also available for a fee.
